Miss Gene Marshall in Platinum Dream LE 800 by Mel Odom / Ashton Drake

From the well-kept collection of a meticulous Doll collector: Miss Gene Marshall in "Platinum Dream" RARE Limited Edition of 800. Miss Gene Marshall in "Platinum Dream" is brand new, and has been professionally styled. She wears her hair in a long flowing wavy style that is very curly at the bottom, which goes to her mid-back.

She has blonde eyebrows to match her hair color and especially done makeup with a darker lip shade. Her ensemble was very recently professionally cleaned and steam pressed for her.

The gown Gene wears is circa 1951, and is made of a shimmering all white satin. The style is long sleeved and off the shoulder, with a plunging neckline, and a glimmering array of crystals adorning the top.

It features a satin White decorative bow at the empire waistline adorned with a larger Crystal surrounded by smaller crystals, the edges of which reach all the way to her feet. The bodice tapers to her natural waist and then is slightly pleated at the hipline. She wears matching white ribbon tie back shoes also adorned with crystals, nude hosiery, of course, and triple strand dangling "diamond" earrings. A custom-made "diamond" necklace was also made especially for Gene.

She carries a custom-made purse of matching White satin that has a front flap that opens, adorned with two rows of shimmering crystals and as well her shoulder strap is made of shimmering crystals. Gene looks stunningly beautiful in white on white, as she keeps warm with a white "fur" stole the ends of which reach all the way to her feet.

She does look like a "platinum dream" for this is a very special night. It is her 10th anniversary in Hollywood, and is being celebrated by everyone in the industry! The story of "Platinum Dream".. And it had been ten years since Gene burst upon the Hollywood scene with the intensity of a white-hot comet, blazing through the cinematic sky! And what a year 1951 has been for America's- the world's--favorite Girl Star.

It started with Gene riding in the New Year's parade on a rose-covered float sponsored by Monolithic to honor her tenth anniversary; her mother presented her with a cameo for her 28th birthday; she went on a safari in Africa while on location for her hit film Daughter of the Nile.. Then, to top it all off, Gene was honored at a special gala recalling her fabulous career. All of Hollywood has turned out for this event, hosted by Gene's coworker and costar, Madra Lord.

Gene's parents even flew in from Cos Cob, Connecticut, for the occasion. At the end of a montage of Gene's films to date, the image froze on an iconic shot of Gene, in black and white, lying on a satiny background draped in pearls.

At that moment, Gene, in startling white-on-white with diamond accents, stepped out in front of her larger than-life self--and the crowd rose in unison, cheering wildly. Gene, clutching the evening's souvenir program filled with photos of her most famous roles and candid shots of her "backstage life", shyly motioned for them to stop, but the crowd would have none of it. Finally, the cacophony subsided and Gene, ever gracious, spoke. Thank you one and all for allowing this little girl from Connecticut to'share the dream' with so many of you over the past ten years. And here's to sharing it many, many more... Gene comes in her original white signature box. Gene's doll stand is included.
